title : One dark night, as the last bus arrives...
Hello everyone. I thought I would spice up this blog with a short story.
Here goes, and enjoy. It was a dark warm night. A man was waiting at the bus stop for the last bus ride home. After waiting for a long time, the bus came and he climbed in, feeling rather happy that he was finally able to go home. Beside himself, there were only 2 other passengers there. One was a middle-aged woman, she looked nice and wore red lipstick. She smiled at the man as he sat down across her seat. The other passenger was also a woman, but younger. She was extremely pale, clad in a bright red coat, and sat at the end of the bus. Even before the man entered the bus, she stared intently at him. As soon as the man noticed this woman, his body shivered and he tried not to look at her. The hair raised at the back of his neck and goose bumps were appearing on his arms. The middle-aged woman noticed this, and went to sit next to him. "Excuse me, son. I can't help but notice that the girl at the back is staring at you all this while and you appear to be avoiding her gaze. Do you two know each other?" asked the woman. The man glanced at the girl at the back of the bus and then said, "Actually, she's my stalker. She's been following me for months, sitting at the farthest seat in every bus I've rode on. She looks pretty and young, so I've been interested in her before. But one night, when I tried to approach her, she shook the seat in front of her so violently. I was concerned so I asked her if she was okay." The middle-aged woman gasped. "You fool!" she said in a hushed tone. The man continued, "I know. Well, then she just vanished into thin air right before my eyes. But she keeps on stalking me until now. I don't know what to do." The middle-aged woman rested her hand on the man's shoulder. Her gentle hand was reassuring. "Don't worry, young man. I'll talk to her," she said. The woman stood up and walked towards the end of the bus. The young girl stared at the woman with unblinking eyes as she sat beside her. All of a sudden, she disappeared. The woman got up and went back to her first seat. "There. She said she understood. She won't bother you again," the woman said cheerfully as she flashed a smile. Even though he could not comprehend what just happened, he smiled back at the woman and expressed his gratitude. Feeling somewhat relieved, he decided to enjoy the night scenery outside the window. But there, he saw the reflection inside the bus. The seat across him, the one that the middle-aged woman was supposed to be seated, was empty. credits: Dark Tales Of Japan |
